Great backpack, but not durable
I got one of these for my German Shepherd dog. It lasted a few months while we hiked in the woods. I would put some weights in there to tire him out (if you do this be sure to get information as to how much your dog can carry per weight, age and fitness level). Well, just today he got himself into an Azalea bush. These bushes don't have thorns or any kind of defense that would rip fabric, and he didn't even struggle. He just backed out like everything was fine, but the backpack was ripped up at the seams! It's torn at the seams along the zipper, reflective tape and some other places. It is as if the stitching just came out very easily. I thought this pack was wonderful for the time I used it, however, I think it should be able to withstand your basic harmless neighborhood bush!
Pros:
*Washable (according to the packaging, although I never washed it because it was easy to just brush dirt off of, and I didn't have it that long.)
*Easy fitting... more than one place...
Poor durability, hard to balance, straps slip
This pack may be fine for walks around the block; but is not well designed for real hiking. The pack has not held up well - On the second hiking trip the black part was completely shredded, the velcro was starting to come loose, and the zipper pull broke on one side. Also, unless the pack is absolutely perfectly balanced (and sometimes even then) it tends to slide down to one side or the other of the dog. Also the straps themselves are too slippery, and do not stay in place over a longer hike. It is necessary to keep re-tightening them. In addition, the pads intended to protect the dog from chafing do not stay in place and just flop about uselessly. I have also recently learned that dogs packs should be designed to center the weight over the dog's shoulders to avoid back injury. This pack does not.
Dog Backpack
Good product. However, be warned-these backpacks are sized VERY LARGE! I bought a medium for my boxer mix dog, who weighs 55 lbs. The medium is supposed to be for dogs UP TO 50 lbs., but the backpack is still loose around her body.
