Dog Mate Small Dog Door White

best cat/small dog door I've tried
This is a great cat/small dog door. It allows you to set the door 4 different ways: 1) opens both ways; 2) locked both ways; 3) only opens into the house; and 4) only opens out of the house. It is much more attractive than other similarly priced cat doors. We have been using it for a while and it is holding up quite well. Magnets hold the door closed, so the wind doesn't blow it open, but my cats don't have to push as hard to open it as they did with another door -- which is a plus because my cats didn't like having to push hard -- so it is probably easier to train cats to use this door than harder-to-open doors. I'll buy this door whenever I need to add a cat door.
Perfect for my cats
One of my two cats has managed to get quite large, and I noticed he was having a hard time getting through the standard sized cat door. Before anyone rips on me for the reasons my cat got so large, I can say that I feed my two cats no more than they're supposed to eat. He's just a large cat. Since my cats are indoor cats, I have their door installed in the door that leads to the basement where their litter box is so I don't have to leave the door cracked open. The door works great, and I can lock them in the basement when I'm doing something I don't want them around for like painting, company etc. My cats have to be around us all the time for some reason, and some times it's just not convenient.
Decent door, just not very secure
Bought this door a week ago,to replace a Petsafe door, because my Maine Coon is a yr old and got too big for the other door. Would have bought a Petsafe door, loved the lock's, ease of use,big handle on the inside and the panel was thicker, but they only make this rounded version and not large enough.

The Pros
Easy to install. Took about 15-20 minutes on a Metal insulated door. The Template was perfect.
Being squarish, my cats have an easy time going in and out.

The Cons
The locks are kinda flimsy and small. They are on the bottom and not the easiest to grab.
I live in the country and racoons are always trying to get in. Sure enough last night, one tried. When I came downtstairs at 4 am, one of the 4 slides, was pushed open. Racoons are very smart. The lock part is larger on the outside of the door.
The panel itself is not very thick and there is no weatherstrip between the frame and door, so I'm not sure about he weathertight...
