Flexi Explore Retractable Cord Dog Leash, Medium, 23-Feet Long, Supports up to 44-Pound, Black

My dog is small but my hands are normal sized.
I wish they would stop trying to redesign this product. After 6 years of great performance, my last flexi-leash stopped retracting properly, so I ordered this more recent version of the same product. I don't know why they do this, but the "small dog" leash has a smaller handle than versions for larger dogs. The size of the handle is proportional to the size of the dog, which makes no sense. I have a small dog, but my hands are that of an average-sized adult male human. Therefore, I can't fit all 4 of my fingers comfortably in the handle. I could get a leash with a larger handle, but it would be designed for a larger dog. I doubt my min-pin could comfortably pull out a cord that has tensile strength designed for a 40 or 100 LB dog. It just makes no sense. The size of the handle grip and the size of the dog should not be relative. The previous small-dog version of this flexi-leash had a handle for an average-sized human hand, and was about 2-3 ft longer.
actually works nicely
The concept is simple enough... it pulls out and retracts and there's a slide-lock, like a measuring tape. The brilliant thing is I think this is well enough made it won't break after playing with it a few times. I haven't had it long enough to prove this point but Flexi has certainly been around that long and I haven't heard that they're rubbish.

Here's a few things about how I use mine. I bought it primarily for tracking. It's not legal for most competitive tracking events which require a 10 meter (~33 foot) long-line, but this 8 meter tape is more than long enough for practical purposes and you don't waste any time or your second hand line-handling. The tape, I guess it's nylon or polyester, seems to stay free of weeds and stickers unlike cotton lines that seem to grab everything. The line won't burn your hands either since you don't even touch the line.

I clip mine to a harness. I wouldn't like to clip it to the collar because the brake is not smooth...
Excellent product.
This is the best retractable leash I've ever used and that includes several different brands I've borrowed previously.

VERY well made with a long lead and a spring rewind system that's just strong enough. Comfortable to hold and operate. I highly recommend this product.
