The Best Waterer I've Ever Owned!
We have 3 labs and have tried just about every waterer on the market. I hated every one of them until we found the Dogit! With this design, instead of the big drinking area that the water pours into there is a very small drinking area which means that you don't have dirt and hair falling into the bowl like you do with most others. Not only that, but where the dog drinks from is raised, which helps with dogs who tend to drink too fast and then yack up the water minutes later. The other units would have to be filled almost daily. This baby holds a lot of water. The one person said the inside of the bowl gets dirty, but with three labs that love the mud as much as ours do I can say that we've never had any problem with the bowl getting dirty. Seriously, I cannot say enough good things about this unit. Everyone that has seen it has loved it. It's quiet compared to others, it's sooooo much cleaner, and it holds more than most others. If your dogs have a drinking problem like...
Massive fountain, but not all it seems.
I've owned this for about a week, and am seeing the pros and cons of this design. I have one cat that's trapped in a golden retriever's body (ha ha!) who is a really sloppy drinker. When he, "drinks", stuff goes out of his mouth into the bowl, and what goes from the bowl into his mouth eventually lands all over the floor near the fountain.... I say this so you know who the test subject is! :)
Pros:
-It holds a TON of water. This has one main advantage, and that is less maintenance time. I haven't had to remove it to fill it up yet, and as I said, I've had it for almost a week. My previous water bowl was the Petmate Deluxe 108 oz. I had to fill that every couple of days and it was a hassle taking it apart, filling it up, carrying it back, etc.. By the way, when you fill it up, this sucker is heavy!
-The filtering mechanism is BEFORE the pump, not after!!! If you are shopping for a water fountain, I cannot emphasize how important this is!!! On this...
Loves It!
I love this so much. We have a Newfoundland and a Great Pyrenees, big slobber mouths! I used to have to clean their water bowls every two hours, now I just have to worry about the outside water bowl. I do clean this out every three days but still it is much easier. For everyone that is having trouble cleaning out the blue bubble:
Flip it over, turn the round dial counter clock wise until the blue bubble separates from the unit. You can then get your hands in there and really clean it good.
I just love this and the boys do too, my Newfie just lays his cheeks on the side and lets the water run down his face. My Great Pyr is a delicate drinker and it also suits him as the water flow isn't too fast.
